Counselling in the Sutherland Shire & Online
Compassionate counselling. Support you can trust.
Meet Sonya - Your Counsellor in Illawong
Sonya is a trauma-informed, ACA-registered counsellor based in Sydney, dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals, couples, children, and youth. She understands how overwhelming life can feel at times and approaches each client with warmth, honesty, and care.
Before becoming a counsellor, Sonya spent many years working across a range of demanding and community-focused roles — including time in the emergency services and law enforcement. These experiences gave her a deep understanding of trauma, high-pressure environments, and the emotional toll that caring and frontline professions can have on individuals and families.
At Mindnest Counselling, Sonya’s mission is to help clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to move toward greater clarity, healing, and personal growth. Her approach is collaborative and tailored to each person’s unique needs, drawing on evidence-based strategies such as cognitive-behavioural techniques, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practices.
Sonya offers counselling in Illawong and the Sutherland Shire for a range of concerns, including:
Anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief
