In-person sessions in Illawong, Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, and online across Australia.

How Stress & Burnout Counselling Can Help

Stress can sometimes come on quickly, but burnout usually builds over time. Burnout can happen when stress keeps going without enough recovery, boundaries or support. Over time, constantly pushing through and putting everyone or everything else ahead of yourself can slowly wear you down.

Sometimes you do not realise how much you have been carrying until you are already in it. You might feel flat, exhausted, irritable, disconnected, overwhelmed, unable to switch off, or like you are not yourself anymore.

In sessions, we look at both the stress you are dealing with now and the burnout that may have been building over time. We explore what patterns are keeping you stuck, what has been costing you, and what needs to become a priority again.

You understand what has been building up
We look at the pressure, stress, expectations and responsibilities that have been wearing you down over time.
You notice the patterns
Stress and burnout often involve patterns like people-pleasing, over-functioning, poor boundaries, guilt, perfectionism or always pushing through.
You work out what needs to change
This is not about learning to cope with too much forever. We look at what needs to shift in your real life.
You start looking after yourself differently
Counselling can help you take your needs seriously again, instead of treating stress and exhaustion as something you just have to keep pushing through.

Common Ways Stress & Burnout Can Show Up

Constant Exhaustion
Feeling tired no matter how much you rest, or waking up already feeling like you have nothing left.
Difficulty Switching Off
Your mind keeps running through work, responsibilities, messages, conversations or what still needs to be done.
Emotional Flatness or Irritability
Feeling numb, detached, snappy, cynical, teary, or not like yourself.
Workplace Pressure
Unrealistic workloads, performance pressure, conflict, difficult environments, or feeling like you always need to be available.
Caregiver & Parenting Stress
Caring for others while having very little space, support or recovery for yourself.
High-Functioning Exhaustion
Still getting things done on the outside while feeling empty, overwhelmed or close to collapse underneath.

Burnout does not always look like falling apart. It can show up as:

My Approach to Stress & Burnout Counselling

01
Understanding what you feel responsible for
We look at what you have been carrying, what you feel responsible for, and how much it has been costing you.
02
Noticing the patterns underneath
Stress and burnout often come with people-pleasing, porous boundaries, guilt, perfectionism, over-functioning or finding it hard to delegate.
03
Getting curious about where it started
I will listen properly and ask honest questions, so we can understand where these patterns may have come from and why they have been hard to shift.
04
Working out what needs to change
You may have been handling it, but we look at what the cost has been and what needs to change so life can start feeling more manageable again.
